Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870), known as Alexandre Dumas père, was a renowned French novelist and playwright. His works, including "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "The Three Musketeers," have been translated into numerous languages and remain widely read. Dumas was prolific, writing plays, magazine articles, and travel books, totaling 100,000 pages of published work. His father, General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, had an illustrious military career. Alexandre's life took him to different countries, and he even founded a newspaper in support of Italian unification. Known for his generosity and egotism, Dumas left a lasting literary legacy.
